The Santa Anita Avenue Complete Streets project aims to transform Santa Anita Avenue into a safer corridor for people who walk, bike, and take transit in the City of South El Monte. It includes:
The project will also include educational initiatives such as workshops, pop-ups, and community walks/bike rides to ensure this a community-driven design.
- installation of bicycle and pedestrian mobility improvements including installation of a combination of painted and protected bike lanes (Class II and Class IV)
- center medians
- continuous ADA pedestrian path of travel including sidewalks, curb ramps, driveways
- street furniture (bus shelter, bike racks, trash bins, etc.)
- bike and pedestrian signage
- street rehabilitation (pavement resurfacing)
- striping and related improvements

ActiveSGV conducted community outreach and engagement for the Santa Anita Avenue project in partnership with CR Associates, Transtech Engineers, Inc., and the City of South El Monte.
